  2. Welcome to "Demos r 4ever - Diamond Collection Volume 1"

  5. This CD contains the best of the demoscene of the past years. You will find
  6. nearly 2200 uncompressed demos in the corresponding directories. This CD
  7. also contains more than 300 diskimages, you can uncompress to disk by a
  8. simple doubleclick.

  10. The contents of the main directories:
  11.  
  12. Aga only   (68 MB) - Demos for AGA-machines only
  13. Diskstuff (178 MB) - Demos to be unpacked to disk
  14. Big Bunch (223 MB) - The directory with most of the demos
  15. Hear Me    (59 MB) - Demos and music
  16. See Me      (7 MB) - Slideshows and Pictures
  17. Intros     (15 MB) - The best intros
  18. Mags       (18 MB) - The best magazines
  19. Minis      (14 MB) - All Demos smaller than 50KB
  20. Party Time (38 MB) - The best of all partyevents
  21. Tools       (2 MB) - Useful Tools

  23. More than 600 MB of demos in more than 1400 directories and in nearly 15000
  24. files are included on this CD. With this, you get a complete overview of
  25. the demoscene of the last years until now.

  27. Simply open one of the directories and enjoy, what the best demo-coders
  28. have to offer you.

  30. Most of the demos can be started by a simple doubleclick, when the
  31. environment is set as the readme-file tells you. The meaning of these
  32. keywords is as follows:

  34. PAL - Your workbench must run on PAL
  35. NoAGA - AGA must be deactivated (e.g. by "Early Startup Control")
  36. NoCache - The prozessor caches must be deactivated
  37. NoQuit - The demo can't be stopped
  38. NoA4000 - Will not run on A4000
  39.  
  40. In the tools directory you will find some programs you can use to set some
  41. of the parameters that need to be changed for that every demo will run on
  42. nearly every computer.

  44. Also in the main directory you'll find some setup programs, that will help
  45. you change the environment.
  46.  
  47. Assigns - This temporary adds some directories on this CD to the system
  48.           path of your computer. This is important to start programs, which
  49.           may not be in your standard system path.
  50. Colors  - Changes your system's colors so that all icons on this CD will be
  51.           displayed correctly.
  52. Screen  - Switches to an eight color PAL resolution. Please remember that
  53.           most demos will only start, when your workbench is in PAL
  54.           resolution.

  56. The settings you change with "Screen" and "Colors" can be permanently fixed
  57. when you afterwards start the prefs programs "Screenmode" and "Palette" and
  58. save the actual environment. The assigns can't be permanently build into
  59. user-startup, because you don't always have this CD in your computer and
  60. you would otherwise get system errors. You can instead copy all the
  61. necessary data from the SYS directory of this CD to your system path.
  62. Before doing this, please check the version numbers, so that you don't
  63. replace newer versions with older ones !
